What is SEO?

SEO stands for search engine optimization, which is a set of practices designed to improve the appearance and positioning of web pages in organic search results. A good SEO strategy using keywords is essential for improving the quality and quantity of traffic to your listing.

Keywords that matter

Most every search starts with keywords that focus on the unique needs and expectations of the searcher. To be the first listing that pops up on any search you need to supply relevant keywords in your description.  For example, if a visitor is looking for an operator who can dry wood fast they use the keyword “kiln”. If you have a kiln and didn’t use this word in you description you will not show up.

Many visitors arrive at the Sawmill Finder from an organic search using keywords like “portable sawmill service (my town)”. Another way is from clicking on a link posted on another web site.

Details make a big difference

Many visitors at the Sawmill Finder will have a specific need and will search for it by name. Type of lumber you have or mill is a big one. If a potential client is looking for quarter sawn Oak and that’s what you have in stock then you need those keywords in your listing. Without including them in your description then someone else who did may land that sale.

The Early Bird gets the Worm

If your listing is at the top of the keyword search results then likely will be their first and only stop (click) to see if what you offer is what they need  If you are the first listing investigated and meet all the criteria of their needs then your phone or contact details will be their first inquiry.

Land two fish on one line

Keywords matter. Providing descriptive details is like having two birds in hand instead of just one in the bush. Keywords that relate to who you are and what you offer in services and products will provide visitors to your ad the information they are looking for and at the same time search engines will give you higher ranking in results.

If you are not sure you have it right try a search from our home page using keywords that potential customers might use. If your ad comes up then you did good. If not then think about adding more details with the proper keywords.

Finally, if you need help with your ad just ask and I have more options to enhance your listing than what are available from your dashboard.
