CAUTION!!!. So found out after years of cutting timber for my LT 15 mill that in the state of Illinois you must have a Timbers buyers license and Proof of ownership forms filled out on where the logs came from, the owners name, contact information, county, section, ext, ext…. to buy and haul more than 1 log. And have a $500,000 insurance policy. So be aware of the conservation police. They have the right to take your truck, trailer, and logs. Even being very nice to the officer and not knowing any of these laws he let me go with a $195 fine. Also any log in Illinos has to be reported to the state and pay a 4% logging tax on the value of the timber. Every state has laws similar to this.
